A Peace Psalm

Thank you Father for your care and your love. Your peace is the bedrock of my soul. It burns deeply below all that can erode and break away. Even hope and happiness can be reduced to sand and shell, but your peace remains as the soul’s lining. Without it, all the other pieces of me would fall right through and I would scramble, fumble and reach across the floor in a desperate attempt to gather them up. Flustered, hot and sweating.

Your peace is unnoticeable at times. It helps me to be gentle, and yet is the firmest, perhaps boldest, thing within me. The knowledge of one heavenly home enables reconciliation with multiple homes on this earth. The early acceptance of your divine control make much looser my grip of defiance to self-determine. Life slips or slides or sometimes sticks in my grasp, but I know I don’t have to hold on too tightly – I’m not the only one with a handle on it. May your peace never leave. If it did, a chilled draft would whistle through my soul and seep up through the damp earthy ground of it. Instead, may your peace be seen as resembling your face, and felt as an example of your heart.
